Cable cleat manufacturer, Ellis has appointed former EIC director of consultancy and business intelligence, Dr Phil Goddard as its first specification manager.
The appointment is aimed at highlighting the importance of correct cleat specification, and Ellis' proven expertise in this field amongst consulting engineers and EPC contractors.
"Ellis has a burgeoning reputation across the globe, and this is a great opportunity to further develop it in a section of the market that has so far not been fully explored," said Dr Goddard.
"My role is not to sell, but to present Ellis' technical expertise in the field of cable fixing and provide support for consulting engineers and EPC contractors in the early phases of project design."
Dr Goddard will operate from Ellis' HQ in Rillington, North Yorkshire one day each week and spread the rest of his time between York and visiting the engineers and contractors he has been appointed to target.
Commenting on the appointment, Richard Shaw, managing director of Ellis, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to entice Phil to join the team and I am sure that as well as creating new opportunities within the specification market, his background and experience in the energy sector will add considerably to our knowledge base."
Ellis is the only manufacturer in the electrical industry that focuses solely on cable cleats. Its products, all of which are short circuit and third party tested prior to being brought to market, are specified and installed around the globe.
