Concord’s design-led luminaires are proving a hit at an eye catching office building in the West End of London.
17 Connaught Place, situated near Marble Arch, has recently undergone a major refurbishment to provide up to 32,678ft² of Grade A office accommodation, which includes a garden, ground floor, and six upper floors. Concord luminaires have been used throughout the building to bring a functional, stylish and reliable lighting scheme to the reception areas, lift lobbies and stairwells as well as feature perimeter lighting in the offices.
This development involved the complete renovation of the existing building at Connaught Place in London. With the exception of the shared car park all the usable floor place was stripped out and extensively reworked into a new modern flexible commercial building. As well as open office space across six floors, the building now features self-contained units on the ground and garden floors accessed via their own glass walkway.
A new category A mechanical and electrical installation was carried out by Designer Group on a design and build contract. The company used energy efficient solutions throughout the installation and the complete project was designed, built and handed over within a five-month period.
“This was a whole building refurbishment, completed within a very tight timescale, and we needed the lighting scheme installed quickly and efficiently” says Carl Bermingham, Electrical Supervisor at Designer Group. “The Concord products fitted the brief of complementing the interior design and meeting our energy efficiency targets. All interior luminaires use LED lamps and are controlled by intelligent lighting sensors to allow daylight to supplement the light levels in the office space.”
Concord’s Mini Continuum LED from Havells Sylvania has been installed in the reception area, lift lobbies and stairwells on all floors to offer continuous, highly uniform lines of light across walls and ceilings. Both recessed and surface mounted versions of the Mini Continuum LED have been installed on this project and the luminaire can be both vertically and horizontally recessed, surface-mounted and suspended dependent on the lighting requirements.
On the perimeter of each floor, Havells Sylvania has installed 300 x 300mm customized recessed versions of its Lumiance Lumipanel. The ultra-slim profile (just 15mm) of Lumipanel makes it suitable for use in areas where a restricted ceiling void has previously prevented overhead lighting and a wall mounted version offers an extra dimension of design freedom. The panel provides complete light uniformity, while offering a high light output of up to 3300lm and 63lm/W. The LumiPanel offers all the benefits of LED lighting including reduced maintenance and up to 50,000 hours of lamp life. Additionally, the LumiPanel contains no UV or IR radiation or mercury, making it safe for all users and the environment. RouteLED, Concord’s emergency lighting product, has also been used throughout the building to offer a non-maintained three-hour emergency light.
