Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group, announces today that it has been appointed preferred bidder by NHS Ayrshire & Arran for the £47 million Acute Mental Health and Community Hospital project.
The project comprises a new 206 bedroom integrated mental health and community hospital, bringing together a comprehensive range of outpatient and in-patient facilities on the Ayrshire Central Hospital site, Irvine. The development is being funded using the Scottish Government’s Non-Profit Distributing (NPD) Model.
Balfour Beatty will finance, design and construct the project, which is expected to reach financial close in Q3 2014.
Derek Lindsay, NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Director of Finance and Senior Responsible Officer for the project, said: “After a robust procurement process, we are confident that we have made the right decision. Balfour Beatty’s final tender offers a high quality design and therapeutic environment. We are looking forward to working with them to provide the people of Ayrshire and Arran the very best facility possible.
