BEAMA Welcomes DECC’S Domestic RHI Package

BEAMA has warmly welcomed DECC’s launch of the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) package.

Speaking on behalf of key heat pump manufacturers, BEAMA's marketing director Kelly Butler commented: “Today's package should kick-start a market that has been waiting to take-off since the RHI was first announced in 2009.

“We are pleased officials have listened to our concerns and kept eligibility reasonably simple alongside a range of tariffs that should provide an impetus to invest in renewable heat.

But, the announcement is not the total solution to market growth and we are now calling on DECC and industry peers to support BEAMA's renewable heat zone (RHZ) vision  bringing together a broad range of supply chain partners, and lead authorities, to deliver regional five year growth plans.

“We will be developing proposals for DECC during the summer and call for concerted efforts to make RHZs a reality by the launch of the next energy network price review period starting in 2015.”
