Cable Protection - New Flexible Conduit Product and Solutions Guide Print E-mail
Tuesday, 10 May 2011 07:36

flexicon guideFlexible conduit manufacturer, Flexicon has made it easier to specify cable protection with its new product and solutions guide.  It includes more than 500 new products.

Says Colin Legg, marketing manager for Flexicon:  “Cable protection selection is often critical.  A number of factors need considering when specifying flexible conduit. These might include IP ratings, pull off characteristics, weight and corrosion resistance, low fire hazard, compression strength, abrasion resistance and fatigue life.”

To assist with specification, the new guide includes easy to use selection guides for both non-metallic and metallic flexible conduit systems.  It helps the engineer choose from 47 different systems.

Of particular note are the FPA and FPAX fittings.  These provide industry leading IP ratings of up to IP69k with a high tensile strength of up to 70kg – all of this from a fitting that takes just 3 seconds to fit.

Says Legg:  “In the last ten years the number of different flexible conduit systems has expanded hugely.  This means that cable protection can be closely geared to the hazards that they face, but it can also be harder to make the correct specification.  Our challenge is to make this specification as simple as possible.”

The new 100-page guide also contains technical advice covering ingress protection, low fire hazard performance, cutting and assembly and resistance to different chemicals.

The guide is available in print or online via the company’s website www.flexicon.uk.com.
