EZ-PATH WINS LOCAL AUTHORITY BUILDING CONTROL CERTIFICATION Print E-mail

ezpathSteel wire cable tray specialist, Cablofil, has been awarded Local Authority Building Control System Approval for its innovative self-contained fire stop system, EZ-Path.

A potentially life-saving fire protection product, EZ-Path was thoroughly checked by Halton Borough Council, before being awarded a Local Authority Building Control System Approval certificate.  The certificate provides UK-wide accreditation, recognising compliance of this flexible, easy-to-install with fire protection product.

Designed for use with data-communications cabling and low voltage networks, EZ-Path enables cables to be added or removed without any additional fire-stopping, whilst maintaining high levels of fire safety.  The square section galvanised steel structure is lined with specially-developed fire-stopping inert material which expands in the event of fire to form a high integrity seal against heat, smoke and fumes.  This means that the fire-stop caulking, putty or sealant usually required after cable installation is no longer necessary, reducing installation times and making it much easier to alter a building’s layout or networks in the future.

David Tierney, Building Control and Enforcement Manager at Halton Borough Council which awarded the certification, commented, “The checks carried out on EZ-Path demonstrated that it is just as effective as conventional fire stop products and fully complies with building regulations.  This means that it can offer a very useful alternative to speed up changes to cabling networks, minimising disruption for the building’s occupier whilst satisfying Building Control Authorities that suitable measures are in place to counter fire risks.”
