Sylvania Develops Coolfit GU10 LED Lamps

refLED CoolfitSylvania has extended its range of high quality GU10 LED lamps with the introduction of its RefLED Coolfit GU10 5.5W 345Lm.

The lamp, which has been shortlisted at the Lighting Design Awards 2014, has been designed to operate at a cooler temperature allowing it to be used in enclosed luminaires such as fire-rated downlights, IP65 downlights and small spotlights.

One of the biggest issues surrounding LED lamps is the management of heat from the lamp, which will lead to premature failure if managed incorrectly. In enclosed luminaires it is extremely difficult to manage the heat away from the LED, especially in a small form factor such as GU10. Using standard LED GU10 lamps in such luminaires could shorten life to as little as 20% of the rated life or less compared to when operated in open luminaires.

The RefLED Coolfit GU10 5.5W 345Lm is capable of delivering 50,000 hours life when operated in open fixtures and, owed to the improved low operating temperature, will also deliver 25,000 hours life when used in enclosed fixtures. Furthermore, when operated in open fixtures, not only will the lamp enable 50,000 hours life, but will maintain over 90% lumen maintenance throughout.

This latest innovation delivers a compact, perfect-fit GU10 light source with true 50W halogen equivalent light and long life no matter what the application of the lamp. This impressive performance combined with the lamp’s low colour shift through life also make the RefLED Coolfit GU10 5.5W 345Lm the ideal solution for retail and display lighting, ensuring consistent light output not just today but for the entire life of the product.

Manufactured at Sylvania’s state-of-the-art facility in Tienen, Belgium, this lamp continues Sylvania’s quest to push the boundaries of technology and cements the company’s commitment to delivering the very best quality LED lamps to customers. The lamp is supported by a five year warranty for complete piece-of-mind.

“Sylvania has a strong heritage in creating innovative GU10 lamps” says Peter Dillen, Strategic Business Unit Director LED. “The original halogen GU10 lamp was invented 15 years ago at our factory in Tienen and over recent months we have introduced a number of LED versions to the range. The outstanding performance of our RefLED Coolfit GU10 5.5W 345Lm highlights just how impressive our R&D capabilities are and reaffirms our position as the leading lamp company within the reflector LED lamps market.”

The RefLED Coolfit GU10 5.5W 345Lm is available in 2700K Homelight 40°, 3000K Warm white 25° or 40° and 4000K Cool white 40°.

Like the RefLED Superia 345Lm range in our portfolio, the RefLED Coolfit GU10 5.5W 345Lm emits the same 345Lm flux of 50W GU10 halogen lamps. It is also compliant with the legislation for directional lamps with over 345 Lumens in a 90° cone at the end of its life, with superb beam spread qualities more comparable to professional MR16 halogen lamps synonymous with design-led lighting. The new lamp is a perfect partner to the Concord Beacon ES50 or Sylvania downlights.

The RefLED Coolfit GU10 5.5W 345Lm has been shortlisted in the Light Sources category at the Lighting Design Awards 2014. Winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony on the 20 March 2014, at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London.
