CIBSE Announces Expanded Young Engineers Awards for 2012

The growing importance of young engineers and their role in helping the UK emerge from economic recession is to be reflected in a new awards scheme developed by CIBSE.  The CIBSE Young Engineers Awards 2012 brings together, for the first time, the CIBSE ASHRAE Graduate of the Year Award, now in its 17th year, and the Employer of the Year Award in one.

The CIBSE Young Engineers' Awards is a new initiative that celebrates engineering promise. The awards offer young engineers the chance to shine and gain recognition as well as to reward the organisations that are supporting them and helping to guide them on their way.

The awards will be presented on the 11 October 2012 at the IMechE in London, at a dedicated event which aims to bring together a range of industry representatives who are interested and involved in the development of young people as well as the young people themselves.

The CIBSE ASHRAE Graduate of the Year Awards
The CIBSE ASHRAE Graduate of the Year Award is now established as one of the industry's most sought after accolades. Now in its 17th year, the first prize is a trip to the ASHRAE Conference in Dallas in which the award winner is welcomed as a guest of honour and is able to take a part in the meeting as well as enjoying the sights and sounds of this fascinating city. Generous cash bursaries are also presented to two runners up by the Rumford Club. Entries are invited and regularly received from all over the world.

CIBSE Employer of the Year Awards
If you put the development of young engineers at the heart of your business, and you can show innovation and commitment in developing the skills and expertise of your more junior employees then you could be eligible to enter the CIBSE Employer of the Year Awards. If your organisation pro-actively champions young people in the BSE industry, through your commitment to young people in the workplace or by supporting those employees through education, then tell us your story. This is your chance to share your dedication with the rest of the industry, to highlight the long term benefits of being part of your organisation and to further cement your reputation as a champion of young engineers.

All finalists will be asked to attend the awards ceremony to be held at The Young Engineer Awards at the IMechE on 11 October, where the winners will be announced and prizes presented.
