Leading cable cleat manufacturer, Ellis Patents has broken new ground by securing its first significant order in Brazil.
The North Yorkshire company’s Emperor trefoil cleats will be used on the new Petrobras P55 Floating Production Unit (FPU), which is scheduled to start producing oil 80-miles off the Brazilian coast in the deepwater Roncador field in 2011.
Commenting on the deal, managing director, Richard Shaw said: “In recent years we have made a real name for ourselves on a global stage, most notably in key oil rich markets such as the Middle East and Kazakhstan. “
“During this time the Brazilian market has been firmly in our sights and a great deal of hard work has gone into securing what we hope will be the first of many orders from this region.”
Key to this first deal was indentifying and appointing a respected local distributor, a task that was concluded in 2009 when Macaé based Polar Componentes e Sistemas Offshore Ltda was appointed. This move ensures Ellis Patents has a permanent presence promoting its products in Brazil.
“The local distributor route has proved a huge success in other international markets, and we feel Polar will help to deliver similar results for us in Brazil,” continued Richard.
Founded in 1977, Ellis Patents designs and manufactures specialised electrical cable and pipe fixings. The market leading company services customers across the world and operates in a range of market sectors including power generation, oil & gas (offshore & onshore), construction and HVAC. Its recent offshore success has included repeat orders for elements of the Kashagan project in Kazakhstan and a major order for the Peregrino FPSO (Floating Production Storage Unit), which was built by Singapore-based J Ray McDermott Far East Inc in its Batam Island facility in Indonesia.
