Five Reasons to Specify Techdrives LED Light Bars Print E-mail

light barsLED light bars give bright and even light up to 1725 lumens. They are long lasting and energy saving. The Patlite range described on the Techdrives website has been expanded with the new type CLA available in strip lengths from 100 to 1500mm.

Compared to fluorescent tubes LED light bars are a more expensive option, so why would a designer choose to pay the extra cost? Here are five reasons:

1.  Where you need light in extreme conditions, for example food and beverage machinery where wash-down is required. The CLA light bars are protected to IP69K and can withstand an 80º steam jet at 80 bar. The seamless rounded body minimises dirt traps and construction is in shock-proof polycarbonate without any glass content so danger of food contamination is removed. Furthermore there is no mercury content.

2.  Where high quality illumination is needed, for example in inspection machines and for checking output in printing machinery. The CLA light bars have options for natural white light with no infared or ultraviolet content, ideal for inspection areas, also daylight and yellow/amber designed for vision systems such as those used in semiconductor production. In each case the illumination is extremely even without glare.

3.  Where energy saving is particularly important. Compared to a fluorescent tube of the same light rating, LED light bars save 52% of electrical energy. The largest 1500 mm light bar has a power rating of only 29W for 1725 lumens at 1 metre. On big projects with many lights this can add up to tonnes of CO2 emissions saved a year.

4.  Where operator safety and comfort is a priority such as in confined work stations, control panels. The CLA light bars are electronically safe with 24V supply. As might be expected from the low power consumption, the heat radiated is low adding greatly to comfort when lights have to be positioned close to machine operators. The construction with polycarbonate instead of glass adds to the safety. Comfort is enhanced by the lack of UV radiation and flicker effect.

5  .Where access is difficult, for example signs and lighting positioned high from the ground. Compared to fluorescent tubes the lifetime of LED light bars is 4 to 10 times longer meaning that the need to replace them is reduced or even eliminated on many applications. Light bars are easy to fix with simple screw and clip connections or the alternative of magnetic fixings. Seven standard lengths from 100 to 1500mm make adaption easy.

The brightness and efficiency of LED lighting is resulting in a rapid increase of use. Light bars are a new standard solution with the ability for use in extreme and accessible situations.
