C-Tec’s Innovative Neck Pendants Help Hospice Patients Print E-mail

ctec hospiceSt Kentigern’s Hospice in North Wales is the latest care facility to benefit from C-TEC’s new Quantec QT432 infrared/radio neck pendants.

Each patient wears their own elegantly designed neck pendant, which allows them to trigger calls remotely via a Quantec infrared call point, ceiling receiver and/or radio receiver. The pendants, which are supplied in a robust plastic enclosure with a 1.2m anti-ligature lanyard, work in harmony with the existing C-TEC Quantec addressable call system at the eight-bedroom residential unit.

Outstanding patient care is absolutely vital in facilities responsible for people with life-threatening illnesses and, according to St Kentigern’s Manager, Joyce Bellingham, Quantec is critical to providing such care. Says Joyce: “Quantec is essential to the smooth operation of the Hospice. The system gives patients reassurance that their calls will be responded to quickly and the pendants mean patients can call for help easily and their beds are now free from long straggling call leads which can be quite hazardous in a care environment”.

Says Dave Coney, MD of DMP Communications, the company responsible for electrical installation and maintenance at the Hospice: “The new pendants provide patients with a highly accessible and reliable method of triggering calls. At £40 trade, they are also extremely cost-effective which makes them a highly attractive option for our customers.”

Continues Dave: “The fact that Quantec is continually being up-dated and enhanced with new technologies means we can revisit projects and offer system improvements to our customers. At St Kentigern’s, for example, we recently up-graded all the call points to stainless steel and, last month, introduced the new pendants”.

Officially opened in 1995 by the late Sir Anthony Meyer, St Kentigern’s is a palliative care day and eight bed residential unit providing medical and nursing care for patients together with social, emotional and spiritual support. The vast majority of its income is derived from fund-raising and donations.
