The new Marlin streetlight was officially launched in December 2009. This new innovative light, designed and manufactured entirely in Coventry through a technology partnership with Advanced LEDs offer energy and carbon savings of up to 70%. In trials it has been shown to reduce whole life running costs by a third.
Suitable for use by local authorities on highways, public spaces and in the private sector for car parks and business premises, the bright white light provided by Marlin gives superior visibility over traditional sodium street lights and uses 70% less energy. In trials the superior quality of the light was shown to improve the resolution of CCTV pictures offering benefits for public safety while reducing the UK's carbon footprint. The Marlin streetlight also contains no harmful mercury or heavy metals, meaning that they are cost effective to dispose of at the end of their 25 year guaranteed life.
The high performance S4 class luminaire has a lamp life of over 150,000 hours. The Marlin has a highly robust construction that is more resistant to impact, vibration and vandalism than traditional streetlights and is a fully controllable lamp source - dimming and on/off.
