The launch of GE’s latest Series 300 VAT variable speed drives delivers a new generation high performance product line incorporating the very latest technology in both hardware and software.

The new range is more compact having a smaller footprint than the version it replaces. Power ratings are up to 45kW 200 - 240V 3 phase and up to 475kW 380 – 480V 3 phase 50/60Hz.  In addition the range has a high starting torque capability in excess of 200% which can be achieved when using standard AC induction motors.  Also the drives are able to power not only standard induction motors, but also the latest generation permanent magnet motors, in each case sensorless or close loop control is available. 

Series 300 VAT Drives also offers Multimode control, V/f control for constant torque loads, Vector and PM control, both closed loop and sensorless. Dynamic braking built-in as standard up to 22kW.  Advanced features include: user programmable built-in PLC functionality, configurable PID control and Multi-pump control.  Communications, either ModBus, ProfibusDP, DeviceNet, CANopen and CC-Link are all available.  Added to this there is a multi-language interface. 

A dedicated version, Series VAT300L, has been developed and is available for Lift applications incorporating features such as Roll Back Prevention, Emergency Positioning after power failure, 8 speed settings with independent acceleration/deceleration settings and jerks. Improved brake function with motor rising torque bias control, multiple ASR response time to improve ride comfort, full auto-tuning without rotating the prime mover including pole positioning for PM motors and built-in dynamic breaking covering the full power range, along with on/off output contactor control are it’s most important features. 

In today’s marketplace efficient use of material, compliance with RoHs European Directives and the use of dioxin free plastic materials is paramount  in consideration of people safety,  this latest range of Variable speed drive from GE meets these requirements.
