Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick Apprentice Scoops ‘Electrical Apprentice Of The Year’ Award

Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick apprentice, Antony Glastonbury, has been awarded the Electrical Apprentice of the Year award at the JTL Awards.

The awards celebrate the highest achieving young trainees in the construction industry, with candidates nominated from each of JTL’s training regions across England and Wales on the basis of their outstanding overall performances.

Taking place at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) in London’s Savoy Place, the ceremony saw Antony secure the award as a result of his hard work and commitment to his role as a Trainee Engineer at the National Automotive Innovation Centre (NAIC). His commitment has extended beyond the workplace, with Antony completing the Duke of Edinburgh Gold award which encompassed various challenges including a charity cycle ride from Lands’ End to John O Groats.

Since joining Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick in 2011, Antony has excelled in all areas of his apprenticeship, working on numerous projects including Featherstone Prison, Princess Royal Hospital Telford, European Bioenergy Research Institute in Aston, and Chamberlain Halls Student Accommodation in Birmingham. His success has also secured him the opportunity to progress on to the company’s Trainee Programme, enabling Antony to study for a degree in Building Services Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University, whilst working as a Student Engineer at NAIC.

Discussing his professional journey and award win, Antony said, “I’m delighted to have won the Electrical Apprentice of the Year award. I thoroughly enjoy the variety of my role and I would recommend an Apprenticeship to anybody currently considering their career options because it provides the opportunity to earn and learn, in addition to gaining on the job experience which you wouldn’t get from classroom based learning.”
