Concord and Organic Response Win at 2014 Lighting Design Awards

Lighting Design AwardsConcord Officelyte incorporating Organic Response has won the ‘Lighting Controls’ category at this year’s prestigious Lighting Design Awards.

Making its way through the rigorous judging process and proving itself against numerous worthy entrants, the groundbreaking control technology combined with the innovative design and performance of Havells Sylvania’s Concord luminaire, has been acknowledged as the best in the industry.

After another record breaking year for entries and an astounding shortlist, the LDA2014 judges had their work cut out in picking the most deserving winners.  On winning the award for lighting control solution, Christian Schraft, President, Havells Sylvania Europe, said “It is extremely gratifying that the lighting industry has recognised our partnership with Organic Response, one of the most innovative lighting control companies in the world to date. This is just one example in a long line of innovative collaborations for Havells Sylvania, all aimed at delivering sustainable, realistic and performance-driven lighting solutions for any application.”

Australian-based Organic Response uses distributed intelligence to deliver a highly responsive, flexible and energy efficient lighting control system, which integrates seamlessly within Concord luminaires. Requiring no low-voltage wiring or commissioning and ready-incorporated into the luminaire housing, installers are able to benefit from significant savings in time, complexity and cost for their projects. The integrated control system alone can reduce energy used by up to 70%.

By employing Distributed Intelligence, Organic Response technology allows each individual Concord luminaire to make lighting decisions based on the presence of occupants sensed internally via IR, occupancy information received from neighbouring luminaires, ambient light level sensed internally and algorithms based on the environment in which it operates. Each luminaire then communicates its knowledge to surrounding luminaires wirelessly so they can adapt accordingly. Although luminaires act on their own, using Distributed Intelligence means all the luminaires in a space act together creating a robust and responsive system and a very comfortable experience for occupants. Using the Organic response control system, the Concord Officelyte delivers a highly effective and intelligently controlled lighting system.
The Concord Officelyte is the ideal office lighting solution and incorporating Organic Response technology means the building's lighting responds to the user's presence and available natural light automatically. Due to the nature of the IR communications, a change in office shape (e.g. adding partitions) requires no change in configuration of the fixtures. The fixtures’ communications naturally fit within the "geography" of the room in which they are installed.

The Officelyte LED version meets both the energy performance requirements of Part L2A of the Building Regulations, and the workspace lighting quality standards laid out in the newly-published EN 12464-2011. Featuring a slim recess depth of just 95mm and a fully enclosed design, the Officelyte LED Low Profile includes a typical rating of 80 luminaire lumens per circuit watt and a lumen output of up to 4439lm, making it one of the most efficient luminaires available on the market in its class.
