TGE GROUP Appointed to Help Power Flagship Energy Centre

E.ON one of the UK’s leading power and gas companies, appointed renewable specialist TGE Group to install a complex 250kWp roof system on its flagship energy centre.  The energy generated will be used to power a new town outside Exeter.

The new system will contribute to the supply of electricity from the Energy Centre to the 2,900 homes in the neighbouring village of Cranbrook, reducing carbon emissions by 82 tonnes a year. The village is one of the largest low carbon communities in the UK.

The Energy Centre was designed with a curved roof that required a specialist mounting system that would not penetrate the roof. TGE Group designed and installed the 250kWp system using 1,063 Trina 235W solar panels mounted on a new system based on a Euroclad fastening, to maintain the warranty of the new roof.

The installation was subject to a number of strict guidelines and a number of high level SHE (safety, health and environmental) inspections carried out during the installation due to adverse weather conditions and restricted access to site.

Rupert Higgin, Managing Director of TGE Group comments: “This was a challenging project but one that shows how renewable technology can be adapted to any building in order to meet the client’s needs and their energy requirements.  The energy generated will help power new homes and give a glimpse of how communities in the future will power and run their homes and businesses.”

The work was carried out by TGE Group, a company that provides renewable energy systems for clients in the domestic, commercial, agricultural and public sectors.  Head quartered in Cheshire, TGE Group covers all renewable energy technologies including solar, wind, biomass and heat pumps to help customers reduce energy costs.  The broad range of products also compliments their existing energy management and distribution services.  For further information call 0845 643 2528.
