Pentair Thermal Management is Providing Raychem Hot Water Temperature Maintenance System for New Prison

HMP Grampian prisonPentair is providing its Raychem HWAT hot water temperature maintenance system for the bathroom units at the new HMP Grampian prison, which will replace the grim Victorian jails at Peterhead and Craiginches in Aberdeen.

Designed and constructed by Skanska, who used its in-house skill to develop the structural and civil design as well as undertaking the installation of mechanical and electrical services, the new prison will house both male and female prisoners and accommodate both adults and young offenders

The bathroom units comprise of specially designed pre-cast concrete pods with channeled services. They are manufactured off site then dropped into place vertically; installation is quick, easy, safe and economical.

Raychem HWAT self-regulating electric heat trace cable is designed to provide water temperature maintenance for hot water supply pipes in both commercial and residential structures. The heat trace cable is installed on the hot water supply pipes (underneath standard pipe insulation) and replaces supply-pipe heat losses at the point where the heat loss occurs, thereby providing continuous, energy-efficient, hot water temperature maintenance and eliminating the need for a recirculation system. Since the heat trace cable utilises Raychem's self-regulating technology, it can adjusts its power output to compensate for variations in water temperature and ambient temperature -  it produces more heat if the temperature drops and less heat if the temperature rises.
