August 2008 saw the biggest change in lighting protection standards for over 20 years, as the old BS 6651 Protection against Lightning is finally withdrawn, to be fully replaced by BS EN 62305.
Furse, a world leader in lightning protection, has developed a comprehensive technical support package to help consultants, installers and relevant engineers in end user organisations to come to terms with the implications of the changes.
Despite the new regulations being introduced two years ago, there is evidence that many professionals are still unprepared for the scale and depth of the new standards.
“The new lightning standard is far more complex than its predecessor, and includes electrical and electronic systems protection as an integral part of any lightning protection system.
Furse technical support ensures customers adapt to the new regulations to save time and money in the specification, design and procurement of Earthing and Lightning Protection systems.”
David Watton, Sales & Marketing Director, Furse

Technical support includes the renowned Furse literature such as The Guide to BS 62305:2006 which clearly explains the requirements of the new standard, and the Total Solution Product Catalogue covering all aspects of lightning protection - including the complete range of Furse lightning protection products.
Furse regional seminars are CPD accredited and comprehensively explore transient overvoltage protection under the new standard, whilst a new presentation focuses on BS 62305:2006 and its implications. The Furse site surveys have also been updated to reflect the requirements of the new standard. All free on mainland UK.

Finally, designed by Furse, the new, updated, StrikeRisk v4.1 Risk Assessment Software saves users time and effort navigating the complex new risk assessment process.
