Comply Don't Fry (approx 1 hour) The effect on the requirements of the provision of a fire detection system within a premise, in light of new Legislation, Building Regulations and changes to current Standards.
Don't be Alarmed! (approx 1 hour) A guideline on the provision of Voice Alarm (VA) systems and how they are used in conjunction with an Advanced fire detection system. This presentation looks at the requirements of the code of practice BS5839-8:1998 and provides some useful tips on system design.
Raising the Standard (approx 2 hours) Provides an overview of BS 5839:1:2002 which covers Design, Installation, Commissioning and Servicing of a fire detection system, as well as detailing the end users responsibilities. This Standard was heavily revised in 2002 and the presentation highlights all the key changes throughout the document.
Watching the Detectors (approx 1.5 hours) This presentation takes a detailed look at sections 21 & 22 of BS5839-1:2002 which covers the various types of detectors, their selection and siting.
Playing with Fire (approx 1 hour) A more controversial look at the process of providing a new fire alarm system and understanding why over 90% end up not complying to the current standard.
