Safety requirements for secondary batteries and battery installations. General safety information
The number of ways we use batteries is increasing, as new technology emerges. From electric vehicles to uninterruptable power supplies for computer networks, there are more batteries in more places than ever before.
Batteries, especially large rechargeable batteries, create the risk of electric shocks, corrosive electrolytes and inflammable gases, and it’s more important than ever then, to understand and mitigate these risks.
Stay up to date with current best practice by using the recently revised European Standard, BS EN 50272-1. It specifies safety requirements for secondary batteries and battery installations with nominal voltages up to DC 1 500 V, as covered by the low voltage directive
